Project Life - Week 26

This week I was able to mark something off my bucket list. I have always wanted to do a BIG food fight!

The opportunity came through our Youth Group. All the adult leaders had birthdays in June so we were able to set it up so they were singing Happy Birthday and then we let the cake and craziness FLY!

Everyone needs to experience this once! I came home with an earful of green cake icing!! What a great night! ~Rhonda

Snips and Snails . . .

This is the final Viva la Verve Sketch for July. It is a sketch and a color inspiration. What little boy doesn't like cars? I love this paper from My Mind's Eye.

As the little hot rod cars have stars on the dash I decided to use the star spangled impression plate to carry through with the theme on the background paper. A subtle effect. You can see it in the picture below.

Can you believe it is the LAST day of July? ~Rhonda

Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice

With all the goings on about the Royal Baby I felt the need to do a baby card though I choose to do pink. The Viva la Verve July Sketch Wk #4 was the perfect starting point.

Verve's Classy Label die was perfect for layering over the stork and it's sweet delivery.

I used a sentiment from Boutique Borders: Baby for the inside of the card. I have started using more sentiments for the insides these days versus a blank card.

Have a sweet week! ~Rhonda

Speak the truth even if your voice shakes.

Verve July Diva Dare. This month's dare pays tribute to Julee, owner and creator of Verve Stamps and Diva Teresa.  Julee has created countless, uplifting sentiments which have become one of Verve's trademarks, and Teresa knows how to rock distressing and "shabbiness" on her cards.  So we dare you to create a card using an uplifting sentiment and some distressing and/or shabby element to it.

I took the dare and I'm so pleased with the result. All the soft colors looks so pretty. I also benefited from this feather tutorial that Melissa Phillips did. I had a blast trying this and it added just the perfect touch to this card. I also roughed up the edges of my paper to get some of the shabby look.

I so hope your week is starting out great! ~Rhonda

I hope you are enjoying your weekend. I am getting a lot of crafty time as I apparently got into poison ivy and the steroids are not very happy with the heat outside. So I'm itching to do more cards!! :)

I'm completing all my Viva la Verve July cards. This is based on the July Week One sketch. You could play along too. ~Rhonda

Joy

Today's card has gone a little frilly! Not usually what I create but pieces started going together so I went with it.The card is based on the Viva la Verve July Week 3 sketch. You should play along!

I chose to make the front white cardstock 1/2" narrower than normal. That allowed me the opportunity to have the pattern paper go over to the pattern paper I put in the inside. Does that make sense? Don't ya love this shot?

I was so excited to see how these dies coordinated so well. PTI's Damask Snowflake is perfect with Verve's Occasion Frame. The clockface die is so cool as a background layer.

I love this sentiment as well. Have a great weekend! ~Rhonda

I can never make too many birthday cards! I just need to remember to send them.

I used Hawaiian Shore paper with Blueberry ink of all things to complement the blue in the chevron paper. It's a combo that I don't think I have tried before.

Anyone reading this post have a July birthday? ~Rhonda

8th Birthday

This month we challenge you to gain some inspiration from the "Fruits of Summer" color schemes, using either a portion or all of the colors in a particular scheme. Be sure to download and print the Fruits of Summer Color Inspiration sheet to take straight to your workspace and use as a reference!

Balloons make me happy! What about YOU? Even seeing one in the store makes me smile! I had a blast inking up the Balloon Bash stamps. I did have a little trouble lining them up on the die. Seems crazy I know cuz if should have been simple.

Can you see the By the Number Impression plate on the Lemon Tart? Love this effect and oh my! LOVE the mats for the number dies. Gonna be a go to item. Happy Hopping friends! ~Rhonda

Wow! The colors in this palette were a HUGE stretch for me! This card went through several metamorphosis before finally landing on a finished design. I really wanted to use the Rainbow stripes die. I had put them all over this card before deciding that they worked behind the fabulous frame.

I love the polka dots on the frame embossed. It makes me happy.

I decided on the sentiment for 2 reasons. It was small enough to fit the tab and it echoes the beautiful word that is on the pattern paper.

It's always good to be stretched. The pain is worth it! ~Rhonda

Project Life - Week Twenty-Five

We had a great weekend with family in far south Texas. We enjoyed lots of military pageantry as my cousin by marriage become the new base commander of the Naval Air Training Command in Kingsville.

Both sides of week 25

I had a blast catching up with my cousins, Shannon and Elisha. They have sweet families.

Left side of week 25

On Saturday night we did a little shooting. It had been many years since I had done that.

Right side of week 25

We are so thankful that men and women choose to protect our country. Enjoy your week! ~Rhonda

Cast All Your Cares on Him . . .

I am playing along with a new challenge blog called Curtain Call. Their first challenge is Feeling Nautical. I went CAS. The stripe paper has the colors of nautical flags. The cord is definitely thicker than a twine. It fit perfectly through the 3/16" eyelets. I played around with the "knot" for a bit.

I think this would be a great card for a guy! Thanks for visiting. ~Rhonda

Project Life - Week 24

Thank Goodness I got Week 24 completed! I am still working on Week 23. I am stuck big time on it. (remember the hint to take lots of pictures? yeh, I should have listened better)

 both sides of week 24

Summer continues with a church softball game. Lots of silliness and creative batting. We did end up with a major injury as one of the high school girls ended up with a ball to the nose.

left side of week 24

The weekend involved traveling to Houston for a wedding. We managed to fit in dinner with Bob's sister and to celebrate my birthday as well.

Project Life - Week 22

I had a lot of pictures this week. It sure makes it easier when that is the case.

The shack that we painted is located in the little town of Aledo. The community paints birthday wishes, community events, and whatever catches their fancy. It is a great tradition. I had always wanted to do this so now I can mark this off the list.

The going away party for Noa was bittersweet. I know she is ready to see her family but we are going to miss her a lot.

I just noticed that I left off the white frames that I have been using. Gonna have to go back and fix that. ~Rhonda
